WHAT DOES RAFE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Why?

Financial companies choose how they share personal information.  Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing.  Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share and protect your personal information.  Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The type of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us.  This information can include: 

  • Social Security number and transaction history
  • account balances and overdraft history
  • credit history and credit card or other debt

When you are no longer our customer, we continue to share your information as describe in this notice.

How?

All financial companies need to share members’ personal information to run their everyday business.  In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their members’ personal information; the reasons RAFE Federal Credit Union chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

What we do
How does RAFE Federal Credit Union protect my personal information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law.  These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
How does RAFE Federal Credit Union collect my personal information? We collect your personal information, for example, when you 

  • open an account or deposit money
  • pay your bills or use your credit or debit card
  • apply for a loan

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing? Federal law give you the right to limit only 

  • sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes-information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • sharing for non-affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Definitions
Affiliates Companies related by common ownership or control.  They can be financial and non-financial companies. 

  • RAFE FCU has no affiliates. 
Non-affiliates Companies not related by common ownership or control.  They can be financial and non-financial companies. 

  • RAFE FCU does not share with non-affiliates. 
Joint marketing A formal agreement between non-affiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you. 

  • RAFE FCU doesn’t jointly market. 

RAFE Federal Credit Union is owned by it’s members and run by a board of directors you elect. You can be confident that your financial privacy is a top priority of this credit union. We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information. We are committed to providing you with competitive products and services to meet your financial needs, which necessitates that we share information about you to complete your transactions and to provide you with certain financial opportunities. In certain to do so, we have entered into agreements with other companies that provide either services to us or additional financial products for you to consider. If you prefer that we not disclose information about you to certain businesses, you may “opt out” of these disclosures, that is, you may direct us not to disclose information about you, as explained in this notice. This “opt out” will not apply to information that we may disclose about you as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your instructions as you authorize, or protect the security records.

And we may also disclose all the information we collect, as described below, to companies that perform marketing or services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.

To protect our members’ privacy, we only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide. We do not permit these companies to sell to other third parties the information we provide to them.

Information We Collect About You
We collect non-public personal information about you from the following sources:

Information we receive from you on membership and loan applications and other forms;
Information about your transactions with us or others;
Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency; and
Information obtained when verifying the information you provide on an application or from other institutions where you conduct financial transactions.

Information We May Disclose About You
We may disclose the following kinds of non-public personal financial information about you:

Information we receive from you on applications and other companies that work closely with us to provide you with financial products and services, such as your account balances, payment history and credit card history.
Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as your creditworthiness and credit history.

Certain Parties That Receive Information From Us Where You Can Request To Opt Out
We may disclose non-public personal information about you to the following types of third parties:

Financial service providers, such as companies providing automobile insurance;
Other companies that provide consumer discount programs.

How To Opt Out or Stop Certain Disclosures About You
If you prefer that we do not disclose non-public personal information about you to such non-affiliated third parties as listed above, you may opt out of those disclosures. If you wish to direct us not to make disclosures to non-affiliated third parties (other than those permitted by law), you should do one of the following:

Call a member service representative at (951)682-1556.
Contact us on our website.
Complete the attached form and mail it to us.

This is further explained in the attached “Opt Out Notice”. You may opt out of these disclosures at any time. This opt out option, by law, will not apply to disclosures that we make to companies that perform services on our behalf or to other financial institutions that may have joint marketing agreements with us.

Once we receive your request not to make further disclosures, we will act as quick as possible to stop disclosures. You may always contact us for assistance if you wish later to revoke your opt out election.

Note to non-member join account holders:Any one of you may exercise the right to opt out, ever if you are not actually a member of the credit union. RAFE Federal Credit Union will treat an opt out request from any one party to an account as if all of you directed us to not make disclosures to non-affiliated third parties to which the opt out right applies.

Disclosures of Information About Former Members
If you terminate your membership with RAFE Federal Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as permitted or required by law.

How We Protect Your Information
We restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who have a specific business purpose in utilizing your data. Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard your non-public personal information.
